The games you
will find here are played by children all over the world. They are
sometimes called children's traditional games, and are usually not
written down - they are mostly learned by watching and playing.
There are many different
ways of playing each game. The rules and the kinds of play materials
change from place to place. Everyone has their own way of playing
and their own name for the game, and the way you play depends on
where you live, who you play with and where you go to school.
Traditional games
can be very old - some, like Marbles, have been around for thousands
of years and others, like Tazos, are relatively new. These games
are part of children's folklore, and have been handed down from
child to child for generations. Like folklore everywhere, some play
traditions have changed over time while others have remained largely
the same.
